Our curriculum includes shore based sailing courses at both the Edmonton Yacht Club and Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Completion of these exciting courses give students more confidence on the water and teach competent seamanship skills in preparation for afloat practical sailing components of Competent Crew, Day Skipper & Coastal Navigation

Grant MacEwan - Shore Based Component - Competent Crew & Day Skipper Combined
Combined Competent Crew/Day Skipper course Ashore Component, Grant MacEwan University - Two ashore courses for one low price.
Prepare yourself to sail on a real cruising boat that is capable of going on the high seas. Learn docking, sail handling, anchoring and basic coastal navigation; learn how to rig a boat, tie knots and use safety practices in this entry level course. It is a great introduction to sailing for those with no previous experience.
Shore Based Component - ISPA Competent Crew Basic Sail - The holder of an International Certificate of Competency - ISPA Competent Crew Basic/Sail is certified to live aboard a sailing vessel in tidal waters as Competent Crew. In an emergency, be able to substitute as skipper - Sail a vessel under 30 ft. where no navigational hazards exist within 5 miles of safe harbor. In daylight hours only and in light to moderate wind conditions. Land Component and on the water practical course required.
Shore Based Component - ISPA Day Skipper Intermediate Sail
The holder of an Internal Certificate of Competency - ISPA Day Skipper/Intermediate Sail is certified as skipper of a live aboard sailing vessel. To be responsible for the safety of his/her vessel and crew while day sailing in familiar waters - Within 10 miles of safe harbor. During daylight hours in moderate wind and sea conditions using basic navigational skills. Land component and on the water practical course required

Grant MacEwan - Shore Based Component - Coastal Navigation Course
Used by sailors, kayakers power boaters or anyone who spends time on the water. You will learn about equipment, charts and symbols, dead reckoning, plotting a course and aids to navigation, sailing in tidal waters, and navigating through challenging passes. All printed materials are supplied.
Shore Based Component - ISPA Coastal Navigation Power or Sail
The holder of an International Certificate of Competency - ISPA Coastal Navigation is certified competent to navigate a cruising vessel safely, in costal/tidal waters, within 25 miles of safe harbor, by day, using charts, a hand bearing compass, GPS and navigational aids. Land Component and on the water practical course required.
